Description

A festive and indulgent holiday dish featuring a succulent prime rib served with a rich and flavorful whipped bone marrow butter.


Ingredients

  • 1 (5-6 pound) bone-in prime rib roast
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 cup bone marrow (from 2-4 bones)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Season the prime rib roast with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Place the roast in a roasting pan, bone-side down, and roast for 30 minutes.
  4. Reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness.
  5. While the roast cooks, prepare the whipped bone marrow butter by combining the bone marrow, softened butter, parsley, and lemon zest in a bowl and mixing until smooth.
  6. Once the roast is done, let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing.
  7. Serve slices of prime rib topped with the whipped bone marrow butter.

  • For best results, use a meat thermometer to monitor the internal temperature.
  • Letting the roast rest helps retain its juices.
