Description

A rich and creamy spread made from tender braised oxtail, perfect for slathering on toast or crackers.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds oxtail
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a large oven-safe pot, heat oil over medium heat and brown the oxtail on all sides.
  3. Add onions and garlic, cooking until softened.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and black pepper.
  5. Cover and braise in the oven for 3-4 hours until the meat is tender.
  6. Remove oxtail from the pot and let cool slightly. Shred the meat from the bones.
  7. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded oxtail, butter, and cream cheese. Whip until smooth and creamy.
  8. Season to taste and serve.
