Description

Deliciously crispy plantains fried in tallow, served alongside perfectly cooked steak for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe plantains
  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 1 tablespoon tallow
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Fresh herbs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Peel the plantains and slice them diagonally into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Heat tallow in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add plantain pieces and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. Remove plantains and drain on paper towels.
  5. Season flank steak with garlic, salt, and pepper, then cook in the same skillet to desired doneness.
  6. Let the steak rest before slicing it against the grain.
  7. Serve the steak with the fried plantains and a drizzle of lime juice.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the steak in lime juice and garlic for a few hours before cooking.
  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying the plantains for a crispier texture.
