Description

Deliciously crispy plantains fried in tallow served alongside juicy, seasoned steak.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe plantains
  • 1 pound steak of choice
  • 2 tablespoons tallow
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 lemon (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the plantains into diagonal pieces.
  2. Heat the tallow in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the plantain slices to the hot tallow and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes per side.
  4. Remove plantains and drain on paper towels, then season with salt.
  5. Season the steak with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  6. Cook steak in the same skillet to desired doneness, about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  7. Let steak rest for a few minutes, then slice.
  8. Serve the steak alongside the fried plantains with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Adjust the spices according to taste.
  • Plantains should be ripe for optimal sweetness.
