Description
A traditional South African dish featuring spicy boerewors sausages served with a flavorful chakalaka sauce.
Ingredients

- 1 kg boerewors sausage
- 1 can baked beans
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 carrots, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp curry powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the onion and garlic, and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in the grated carrots, green bell pepper, and tomatoes. Cook for about 5 minutes.
- Add the baked beans, curry powder, and paprika. Season with salt and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- While the chakalaka simmers, grill or fry the boerewors until cooked through.
- Serve the boerewors hot with a generous spoonful of chakalaka on top.
Notes
- For an extra kick, add chopped green chilies to the chakalaka.
- Serve with maize meal or bread for a complete meal.
