Description

Delicious smoked BBQ beans perfect for any barbecue or picnic.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups navy beans, dried
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder


Instructions

  1. Soak the beans overnight in water.
  2. Drain and rinse the beans, then place them in a pot with fresh water.
  3. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 1 hour until tender.
  4. Preheat the smoker to 225°F (107°C).
  5. In a large bowl, combine cooked beans, BBQ sauce, onions, garlic, brown sugar, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and chili powder.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a disposable aluminum pan.
  7. Smoke the beans for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
  8. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Add bacon for extra flavor.
  • Adjust the sweetness by modifying the amount of brown sugar.
