- 4 pounds brisket
- 2 cups red wine
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons gelatin
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 carrots, diced
- 3 celery stalks, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon thyme
- 1 tablespoon rosemary
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned.
- Add onions, carrots, and celery; sauté until softened.
- Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Pour in red wine and beef broth; bring to a simmer.
- Sprinkle the gelatin over the liquid and stir to dissolve.
- Add thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper.
- Cover and transfer the pot to the oven; cook for about 3 hours or until the brisket is tender.
- Remove from oven and let rest before slicing.
Notes
- For a deeper flavor, marinate the brisket in red wine overnight.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
