Description

A delicious and hearty beef brisket dish served with roasted potatoes and harissa-maple carrots, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 cups baby potatoes, halved
  • 4 large carrots, peeled and cut into sticks
  • 2 tablespoons harissa paste
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Season the brisket with salt and pepper, then heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  4. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Cover and transfer to the oven. Bake for 3-4 hours or until tender.
  7. In the last 30 minutes, add the potatoes to the pot.
  8. In a separate bowl, mix harissa and maple syrup, then toss with carrot sticks.
  9. Spread carrots on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for 25-30 minutes until tender and caramelized.
  10. Remove the brisket from the oven, slice, and serve with roasted potatoes and carrots.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the brisket overnight.
  • Leftovers can be used in sandwiches or salads.
