Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 cups cubed day-old bread
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 large eggs, beaten


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and pork over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion, celery, and garlic; sauté until tender.
  4. Stir in the thyme, sage, salt, and pepper.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes and meat mixture.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth and mix in the beaten eggs until evenly combined.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and cover with foil.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
