Description

This homemade gyro meat recipe offers a delicious and authentic way to make gyro meat at home, perfect for wraps and plates.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground lamb
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb and beef with onion, garlic, herbs, spices, egg, and breadcrumbs.
  3. Mix until well combined, then shape the mixture into a loaf or press into a loaf pan.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for about 60-70 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  5. Remove from oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  6. Serve in pita bread with toppings of your choice.
