Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 4 slices of cheese (American or Cheddar)
- 4 burger buns
- 1/2 cup pickles
- 1/2 cup onions, sliced
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat a griddle or cast-iron skillet over high heat.
- Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and roll them into balls.
- Place the balls onto the hot griddle and smash them down with a spatula, flattening them to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms.
- Flip the burgers, add a slice of cheese on top, and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Toast the burger buns on the griddle.
- Assemble the burgers with pickles, onions, ketchup, and mustard.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, try adding a dash of smoked paprika.
- Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness; 160°F is ideal for ground beef.
- Serve with your favorite sides, like fries or coleslaw.
