Description
A delicious and comforting Egyptian dish made with spiced beef and wrapped in flaky phyllo pastry.
Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1/4 cup pine nuts
- 1 package phyllo dough
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef with onions and garlic over medium heat until browned.
- Add the spices and tomatoes, and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Stir in the pine nuts and remove from heat.
- Layer sheets of phyllo dough in a greased baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the layered phyllo and fold the dough over to enclose the filling.
- Brush the top with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- Serve with a side salad for a complete meal.
- Can be frozen before baking for later use.
