Easy Caribbean Beef Patties

Description

Delicious and flaky beef patties with a Caribbean twist, perfect for appetizers or a light meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water


Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook ground beef, onions, and garlic over medium heat until browned.
  2. Add thyme, allspice, salt, black pepper, soy sauce, and water. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  4. Add cold water gradually until dough forms. Roll out and cut into circles.
  5. Fill each circle with beef mixture, fold and seal edges.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake patties for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Make sure to seal the patties well to prevent leaking.
  • These can be frozen before baking for an easy meal later.
