Easy Caribbean Beef Patties

Description

Delicious and flaky Caribbean beef patties filled with seasoned ground beef.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
  3. Add onion, garlic, bell pepper, and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, soy sauce, allspice, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes and let cool.
  5. In a bowl, mix flour and butter until crumbly. Stir in cold water to form a dough.
  6. Roll out the dough and cut into circles.
  7. Place a spoonful of beef mixture on one half of each circle and fold over, sealing edges.
  8. Brush with egg wash and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add chopped chili peppers to the filling.
  • These patties can be made ahead of time and frozen.
