Description

Deliciously crispy fish cakes perfect for Valentine’s Day.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked and flaked fish
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup oil for frying


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the flaked fish, mashed potatoes, egg, parsley, salt, and spices.
  2. Form mixture into patties and coat with flour.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  4. Fry each patty until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes on each side.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

  • Serve with tartar sauce or a squeeze of lemon.
  • These can be made ahead and frozen before frying.
