Description

A delicious beef roast seasoned with coffee and cocoa, served with a rich gravy.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef roast
  • 2 tablespoons ground coffee
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix coffee, cocoa, brown sugar, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Rub the mixture over the beef roast.
  4. Place the roast in a roasting pan and bake for 90 minutes.
  5. Combine beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; pour over roast.
  6. Bake for an additional 30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare.
  7. Remove the roast and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  8. In a saucepan, combine the drippings with cornstarch mixed in water to form gravy. Cook until thickened.
  9. Slice the roast and serve with cocoa gravy.
