Description
A deliciously spiced chicken shawarma recipe that captures the flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine.

- 1 pound chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 2 tortillas or pita bread
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1 cup tomatoes, diced
- ½ cup cucumber, diced
- ½ cup tahini or garlic sauce
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine olive oil, spices, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and mix well. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes, then slice into strips.
- Warm the tortillas or pita bread.
- Assemble the wraps by placing chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and sauce onto the bread.
- Roll up and serve immediately.
Notes
- This recipe can also be made with beef or lamb.
- Serve with a side of Mediterranean salad for a complete meal.
- Leftover chicken can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
