Description

A classic Hungarian dish featuring chicken simmered in a rich, paprika-spiced sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent.
  3. Stir in the paprika and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Add the chicken pieces and sear on all sides until browned.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth, cover, and let simmer for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the pot from heat and stir in the sour cream until well combined.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve hot over egg noodles or rice.

Notes

  • For a deeper flavor, marinate the chicken in the paprika and garlic overnight.
