Description

A hearty and flavorful goulash made with tender cheek meat, perfect for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef cheek
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 large carrots, sliced
  • 2 medium potatoes, diced


Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add beef cheek and brown on all sides.
  3. Remove beef and add onion and garlic, sautéing until soft.
  4. Stir in tomato paste, paprika, and caraway seeds.
  5. Add beef back to pot along with beef broth, bay leaves, salt, and pepper.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 hours.
  7. Add carrots and potatoes, cooking for an additional 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
  8. Remove bay leaves and serve hot.

  • This dish tastes even better the next day as the flavors meld.
