Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef bones
  • 1 pound chicken bones
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 10 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roast bones in the oven for 30 minutes.
  3. Transfer roasted bones to a large pot.
  4. Add apple cider vinegar, vegetables, and water to the pot.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  6. Simmer for at least 12 hours, skimming foam as needed.
  7. Strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve.
  8. Let the broth cool and store it in cups.

  • For extra flavor, add herbs like thyme or bay leaves.
