This traditional Hungarian Pörkölt is a rich and hearty stew that is perfect for a family meal.
Ingredients

- 2 pounds beef, cut into cubes
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until translucent.
- Add the garlic, paprika, and caraway seeds, and stir for about a minute.
- Add the beef cubes and brown on all sides.
- Add the bell pepper and tomatoes, and stir to combine.
- Pour in the beef broth, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meat is tender.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve hot.

- Serve with egg noodles or crusty bread.
- This dish is better the next day, as the flavors continue to develop.
